Charlotte Hornets: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
Charlotte Hornets offseason roster move No. 5: Find value in the draft
The Hornets have two picks in the upcoming NBA draft. They have the 11th pick in the first round and the 57th pick in the second round. Usually, the 11th pick is hit and miss but this season the draft is fairly deep so the Hornets are more likely to get a hit than a miss.
There is usually some very good value left at the end of the lottery and the Hornets need to identify the talent that would fit best with their team. Last season there were players of the caliber of Tyrese Haliburton, Cole Anthony, Isaiah Stewart, Aleksej Pokusevski, Saddiq Bey, Tyrese Maxey, and Immanuel Quickley who were taken with the 12th pick or later.
The Hornets are in a strange position where they cannot really move up the draft. Most of their players who are under contract would be considered off-limits to trade. Players like Hayward and Ball could interest other clubs but the Hornets are invested in this pair.
Bridges and P.J. Washington do not move the needle enough to get them high enough in the draft to make it work. Terry Rozier is in the last season of an expiring contract but he will not improve any of the teams with really high picks enough.
