San Antonio Spurs offseason roster move No. 5: Find some value with their draft picks

One of the ways that the Spurs can speed up their return to the top of the Western Conference is that they can utilize their draft picks. This is not to say that they have to select players with these picks, they can use them to trade for a player who they would already know would fit into their system.

The Spurs have the 12th pick in the first round, and the 41st pick in the second round. The Spurs have been using their first-round picks in recent years which has allowed them to gather together the young core of Vassell, Walker, Luka Samanic, Keldon Johnson, and Dejounte Murray.

Last season the 12th pick netted the Sacramento Kings one of the best players in the draft when they selected Tyrese Haliburton. If the Spurs are able to find this value then they will most certainly keep the pick. This is a very deep draft and the Spurs have a history of recognizing talent.

However, being the Spurs, they also have the ability to make the right call on a trade that will move their franchise along. They could also attach this pick to a player and move up the draft and that will help the team out even more.
