Chicago Bulls offseason roster move No. 2: Pick up Coby White’s team option

Originally taken with the seventh pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Coby White has been a solid yet streaky addition to the Bulls squad. He can go for 30 points on any given night and then he has nights where he seemingly cannot hit the backboard. With experience, White will be able to turn in more even performances.

He played most of the season but had surgery on his left shoulder at the end of the season. The Bulls expected him to be out for four months which will see him back for the start of training camp. This will be crucial for White as the Bulls will want to work on plays for the team where LaVine and Vucevic are the centers of their offense.

If he is not involved during this, then White may take some time to acclimatize to the new playstyle, despite playing last season. However, there is another option involving White that may be of interest to the Bulls. His team option is worth just $5.8 million which may make him a valuable trade piece.

Teams who are looking for a relatively low-cost scoring would be well served to trade for White. He has another team option for the 2022-23 season so he is a low-risk, high-reward player for any team that trades for him.
