Chicago Bulls: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
The Chicago Bulls had a losing season in 2020-21 but there is hope for the franchise. They made a number of moves the try to position the franchise to head towards more successful times. The Bulls have only made the playoffs once in the past six seasons, losing in the first round in 2017.
The Bulls hired former OKC Thunder head coach Billy Donovan to guide them through the end of their rebuild and Donovan was only able to lead the Bulls to a 31-41 record which is slightly up from their 23-43 record from the season before.
Unfortunately for the Bulls, the injury bug bit them hard during the season. They had their most dynamic scorer Zach LaVine missed 14 games, as did Tomas Satoransky. Lauri Markkanen also missed 21 games. This does not sound like much but the Bulls were busy at the trade deadline meaning it was difficult to incorporate the new guys as well.
The Chicago Bulls tried to speed up their rebuild at the trade deadline.
The Bulls made two trades to try and bolster the win-now squad they are building. They traded Wendell Carter and Otto Porter to the Orlando Magic who sent back Al-Farouq Aminu and pivot Nikola Vucevic. The Bulls started seeing good things from the pairing of Vucevic and LaVine.
The other trade that they made was a three-team trade where the Bulls sent out Daniel Gafford, Chandler Hutchison, and Luke Kornet. In return, the Bulls received JaVonte Green, Troy Brown Jr., and the underrated Daniel Theis.
With all of this in mind, let’s take a look at the five roster moves the Chicago Bulls need to make this offseason.
