Sacramento Kings offseason roster move No. 5: Find some value with pick No. 9

Last season the Kings found some really good value with the 12th pick in the 2020 NBA draft when they selected Tyrese Haliburton. The 6’5″ point guard, who had his season cut short due to a knee injury, ended up being an All-Rookie team selection.

At the end of the 2020-21 season, the Kings finished with pick No. 9 in the 2021 draft which is thought to be one of the deepest in a long time. The possibilities that this gives the Kings are interesting, to say the least.

They could use this pick as intended and try to find the best young player in the draft who fits their needs. However, they could attach a player to this pick in an effort to move up into the top five, giving them access to one of the future franchise players in the draft.

The other option that they could entertain with this pick is to send it, either by itself or with a player, to another team to try and get a player who fits their needs and structures in an effort to end their playoff drought this season. They need to do something to give their long-suffering fans some success.
