Sacramento Kings: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
Sacramento Kings offseason roster move No. 1: Re-sign Richaun Holmes
The Kings looked like a much better team when they had Richaun Holmes on the court. He straightened the team up both offensively and defensively in a way that Hassan Whiteside or Marvin Bagley cannot do. He was a presence on the court that the opposition could not ignore.
His stats do not reflect this terribly, only averaging 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 29.2 minutes per game. Where Holmes shone was his field goal percentage. He shot the ball at 63.7 percent from the field which was helped by his 2.4 offensive rebounds per game.
Holmes has started to develop some range on his shot. He shot 40.3 percent of all his shots from between 0-3 feet which is the lowest for his career. He hit 74.7 percent of these which is impressive but it was his work in the mid-range that helps the team the most.
He took 28.3 percent of his shots from 3-10 feet, making 55.2 percent of them. He also took 25.7 percent of his shots from 10-16 feet, making 62.2 percent of those. This range helps create more space on the floor for Fox to create using his quickness.
On the defensive end, Holmes alters so many more shots than he blocks. This changes the way teams attack the Kings defense, He takes away the higher percentage shots from the opposition, theoretically helping the Kings to more wins.
