Best Game 7 performances in NBA Playoffs history: 28. Luka Donic (2021)

Stat line:

  • 46 points
  • 14 assists
  • 7 rebounds

It’s early in the career of Luka Donic but he’s already proving that he’s a legend in the making.

During the 2021 NBA Playoffs, it didn’t appear as though his Dallas Mavericks needed a Game 7 to take care of the LA Clippers after going up 2-0. Yet, after each team failed to win on their home court for the first six games, they needed one more to take care of business.

Even with a two-time NBA Champ, two-time Finals MVP and two-time Defensive Player of the Year checking him in Kawhi Leonard, Donic still went off. He dropped 19 points in the first quarter and appeared to be on his way to taking his Mavericks to the second round. Ultimately, however, Leonard, Paul George and the Clippers stood up to the challenge and knocked them off but not before Donic gave them the business.

On the night, Luka Legend scored 46 points, dished out 14 assists and grabbed 7 boards. The most impressive part of his performance was that everyone in the arena, on the Clippers and on the Dallas sidelines knew Donic was getting the ball every time down the court. Yet, he still managed to shoot over 50% from the field and just a shade under that number from the 3-point line.

Before it’s all said and done in his career, Donic’s name will appear a lot more times on this list.
