Pistons who could be traded this offseason: 2. Josh Jackson
Josh Jackson had a wonderful redemption story with the Detroit Pistons last season. After being virtually out of the league just a couple of years after being the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, he reached rock bottom being assigned to the Memphis Grizzlies’ G-League team.
He ended up playing with the Grizzlies in the NBA bubble and earned a make-good contract with the Pistons last offseason. While his shooting numbers were nothing to write home about (splits of 42-30-73), his toughness, tenacity and physical defense were his hallmarks and could give him plenty of value in the trade market.
Jackson will enter the final season of his two-year, $9.8 million contract, and this team-friendly deal could fetch a return from a contender in need of a tough defender who can make opposing wings work for every basket they get.
In his one year with the Pistons, he’s surpassed expectations and will hopefully parlay that success into a solid payday in next season’s offseason. Depending on where the organization likely hopes to be in 2022, that may or may not end up being in Detroit.
