Ranking NBA Draft classes from 1995-2020: 7. 2012
The 2012 draft class saw another top 10 where four players have already made All-NBA teams. Anthony Davis was the number one overall pick and when he was finally put on a talented roster he rose to the top of the league as a champion. Injuries sidetracked him from fully being able to defend the championship his team had won but next season should be a different story. Andre Drummond (number nine in this draft) joined the Lakers for the stretch run, playing on a competent team for the first time in his career. He is the best rebounder in his generation and his next steps will be telling.
Filling out the top 10, Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal are two of the most must-watch scorers in the league. Neither has been able to get over the hump from a contention standpoint but their individual brilliance has energized two fanbases to new levels. Another All-NBA talent was drafted much later.
Picked all the way in the second round, Draymond Green is a former Defensive Player of the Year, three-time champion and three-time All-Star. He is the definition of Hall of Fame role player, unlocking the true potential of the Golden State Warriors. Also in the second round, Khris Middleton is an All-Star and is looking to help Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks ascend to that level.
Beyond the stars, the 2012 draft is full of quality rotation players. Harrison Barnes is a champion and the kind of wing every team wants. Jae Crowder is quite similar, though he has yet to win a ring. Will Barton is a core member of the Denver Nuggets offense.
