Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
The Cleveland Cavaliers had another season on the road back on their rebuild. They saw the growth they wanted from their young backcourt but they were still the worse offense in the league. They also committed the second-most turnovers per game in the league last season.
They traded Jordan Bell and Alfonzo McKinnie to the Los Angeles Lakers for JaVale McGee and two future second-round picks. During the season they then traded McGee to the Denver Nuggets for Isaiah Hartenstein and another two future second-round picks. This was a good exercise in obtaining future assets.

The Cavaliers also helped facilitate the biggest trade of the season where the Houston Rockets traded James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. For their part, the Cavaliers traded Dante Exum, a future first-round pick and a future second-round pick. In return, they received Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince which is a fair upgrade from Exum.
Kevin Porter Jr. was also traded away by the Cavaliers to the Houston Rockets in a separate trade. He was reportedly angry when his locker was given to Prince and threw food at the Cavaliers general manager. The Cavaliers received another two future second-round picks.
The Cavaliers also waived Andre Drummond in an effort to find more court-time for the young big men. However, the season was ruined by injury at this point. Larry Nance Jr. missed 37 games and Collin Sexton missed 12 games, while Darius Garland missed 18 games. The team’s highest-paid player, Kevin Love, missed 47 games.
Assuming they can stay healthy, let’s take a look at the five roster moves the Cleveland Cavaliers need to make this offseason.
