The Minnesota Timberwolves had another season where they did not set the world on fire. The last time they were in the playoffs was in the 2017-18 season where they lost in the first round of the playoff. Other than that, the Timberwolves have not been in the postseason since they lost the 2004 Western Conference Finals.
The Timberwolves started the process of trying to get better last season when they traded former No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins, their 2021 first-round pick, and their 2021 second-round pick to the Golden State Warriors for Jacob Evans, Omari Spellman, and D’Angelo Russell.
Then, prior to this season, they traded James Johnson, Aleksej Pokusevski, and Mathias Thessort as part of a three-team trade. They got back Jaden McDaniel, Ricky Rubio, and the 2020 first-round pick that they used to select Leandro Bolmaro.

Despite the Timberwolves getting really good production from their most recent No. 1 pick Anthony Edwards. The biggest problem for the Timberwolves was they could not keep their best players on the court. Edwards was the only one who played every game for the Timberwolves this season.
Of their biggest names, Karl-Anthony Towns missed 22 games, Malik Beasley missed 35 games and, Russell missed 30 games. This was just too much for the team to overcome for the season. The Timberwolves need some luck this offseason but more importantly, they need to ensure that their roster is set up the right way so that they can start the long process of becoming relevant.
