Regrading all 30 teams for the 2020 NBA Draft: A Grades

Sacramento Kings: A

Tyrese Haliburton, 12; Robert Woodard, 40; Jahmi’us Ramsey, 43

The Sacramento Kings had the best value pick of the draft, taking a player who could be in the All-Star conversation with the 12th pick in the draft. Yes, they needed eleven teams to pass on Haliburton, but they also ended his slide. Haliburton has an argument to be the second-best player in this class behind only LaMelo Ball.

Haliburton can play either guard position, handling the ball and running the offense on the second unit and shooting off-ball while alongside De’Aaron Fox. The Kings’ two second-round fliers haven’t shone much but most second-round picks are low-probability chances anyway.

Memphis Grizzlies: A

Desmond Bane, 30; Xavier Tillman Sr., 35

The Memphis Grizzlies came out of the draft with just two picks, 30 and 25, and yet got two solid rotation players out of the deal. Desmond Bane went seventh in our 2020 Redraft, a 23-spot jump, a knockdown shooter with solid defensive tools.

Xavier Tillman Sr. went 22nd in the redraft, a center without star upside but already a strong rim protector. He played a key role for a playoff team this season, significantly outplaying all of the big men who went 10-15 picks before him. With the possible exception of Paul Reed, who went 19th in our redraft, at both picks the Grizzlies took the best player remaining — not simply in their estimation, but in hindsight as well. That’s a remarkable feat.
