Bold prediction No. 1: A blockbuster trade is on its way to New York

Exactly 10 years after the team’s last gigantic trade, which was centered around Carmelo Anthony’s permanent move to the New York Knicks, the team’s name seems to be circulating countless trade rumors as of late.

Some pretty big names have made the headlines during these past few weeks. Ben Simmons and Kemba Walker have never had lower trade values and teams will look to exploit that. Obviously, Lonzo Ball will forever remain a constant trade target for the Knicks.

All these realistically achievable moves would do just fine for the New York Knicks. But heck, why not take it a step further and try to facilitate a trade for one of the best players of the century?

This hypothesis obviously has to do with the whole Damian Lillard fiasco, which could make him demand a trade out of Portland sooner rather than later. Dame has poured his heart and soul into this Blazers team and has gotten nothing in return. Maybe it’s time for a change of scenery.

The New York Knicks possess quite a few assets that could help them facilitate a big-time move for a star. With an endless list of draft picks for the following few seasons, as well as a promising core of young players, should the Blazers ask for much more if they were to deal him?

Trading for a player of Lillard’s caliber is always tricky. But if recent memory serves any purpose, it is definitely doable. James Harden and Anthony Davis both forced their way out of their respective dead-ends and are now contending on new teams.

The chances of pulling off a major trade like this are not on New York’s side. To be frank, they are not on any team’s side. But at the end of the day, the New York Knicks owe it to themselves to try and work out a trade for Damian Lillard.
