NBA Draft: LaMelo Ball goes first in 2020 NBA Redraft
In the original 2020 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons had three picks in the top-19 and went point guard, center and wing in that order. They remedy that this time around by going for a wing first thing.
Desmond Bane is not going to be a star, but one year into his career is clearly a high-floor 3-and-D wing who can fit perfectly onto any team in any lineup.
Saddiq Bey may have been a more prolific shooter as a rookie, playing more minutes on a team with fewer offensive options. Bane, however, was the most accurate high-volume rookie, hitting a blistering 43.2 percent from deep.
Only four rookies tallied a higher “Value Over Replacement Player” than Bane did, and similarly just four players had more win shares. He was a seamless fit on the Memphis Grizzlies, as he would be for the Detroit Pistons.
