Free-agency goals for the Chicago Bulls: 1. Sign Lonzo Ball

The final move that the Chicago Bulls should make in free agency is to sign Lonzo Ball.

Currently, Ball is a restricted free agent with New Orleans Pelicans and the franchise has the option to match any offer the Bulls may make for him. Despite this, there is a good chance that the Pelicans would rather let him walk than bring him back.

This is not a knock on Ball, however, the Pelicans already have Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson on the roster. There would be too much money tied up in those three players if they keep Ball around.

Along with this, he does not touch the ball enough in the Pelicans offense for him to play to his full potential.

More from Chicago Bulls

While Ball is primarily a facilitator, since entering the league, he has evolved into a great shooter from three.

Ball entered the league with a lot of criticism in the form of his jump shot. He has silenced even his biggest doubters and did it his way. He did not make major changes to the way he shoots the ball, but he has made a 7.3 percent jump from three when comparing this season to his rookie season.

Along with this, he would be the perfect complement to Zach LaVine in the backcourt. Ball would make up for all of LaVine’s shortcomings. He is a  talented playmaker and passer. Along with this, Ball is an elite perimeter defender.

Lastly, it has already been reported that Ball and the Bulls have some mutual interest in making a deal happen. It was rumored that they would make a deal to acquire Ball at the trade deadline, however, the deal was not made.

Ball would be a great young guard to add to a roster that already features so much young talent.
