OKC Thunder offseason roster move No. 2: Extend Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

When the OKC Thunder traded George, they got a plethora of picks, Danilo Gallinari and the future of their franchise, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The LA Clippers coach at the time, Doc Rivers, only expressed regret about losing the talent of Gilgeous-Alexander in this trade.

It is easy to see why. He spent almost all of last season soaking up information from one of the greatest point guards of all time, Chris Paul. Then, when Paul was traded over the offseason, Gilgeous-Alexander was handed the keys to the franchise and he did not look back.

He averaged 23.7 points, 5.9 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 33.7 minutes per game. He was only able to play in 35 games this season due to being shut down in the second half of the season through injury. Until then he was simply unstoppable.

Now that he is going to have a full offseason where he is able to rehabilitate, he is going to be able to work with his teammates in an effort to improve their team. If they can sign him to the rookie-max extension, then the Thunder have a really good future for those five years, especially with the high-end talent they are going to bring in over that time.
