Free agents that could fortify Portland Trail Blazers bench: 4: Tony Snell

The Blazers need to add some size to their wing group, and adding a guy like Tony Snell would be a nice addition. Snell is 6’6”, 213 pounds and can play both shooting guard and small forward, and has become a deadly shooter from the 3-point line.

For his career, Snell is shooting 39.7 percent from the 3-point line on 3.1 attempts per game. He has shot over 40 percent from the 3-point line per game in four of the past five seasons. The Blazers haven’t really had an athletic, tall 3-and-D wing in a while. They tried with Jones last season, but he can’t shoot it like Snell.

If Portland brings in a player like Snell, it probably means they believe in Simons as their backup PG and then could use Snell at SG with either Nassir Little or Jones at SF. Depending on other moves made during the summer, Snell could maybe even start the season at SF. He gives the teams multiple ways to use him.

Adding a guy like Snell helps the Blazers on both ends of the court, and it would be an intelligent move to surround Lillard, Nurkic and the other dynamic guards with more lethal 3-point shooters. Having excellent shooters coming off of your bench is never a bad idea.
