NBA: The 30 most unforgettable individual playoff runs: 28. Kevin Durant (2017)

Making his second appearance on this list already, Kevin Durant was special on the run to the 2017 NBA Championship. This was his first season as a member of the Golden State Warriors. While plenty of fans made their issues with the move, Durant brought it on the court at such a level to quiet those who wanted to complain.

Over the course of the postseason, Durant averaged 28.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. He showed that he was capable of playing championship-level defense, oftentimes matched up with LeBron James in his battle to take the mantle for best player in the world.
This was the coronation for Durant as finally taking the leap from being one of the greatest scorers in the game to one of the greatest champions. The Warriors are one of the most well-put-together teams of the modern era and Durant was the crowing addition that allowed them to continue to reign supreme over James’ Cavaliers.

His streak in the Finals was specifically impressive, dropping 38, 33, 31, 35 and 39 on the 11th best defensive unit in the league. There was nothing stopping him from finally earning his first championship.
