NBA: The 30 most unforgettable individual playoff runs: 1. LeBron James (2018)

It is hard to fathom a more startling run through the playoffs than the one LeBron James allowed fans to witness during the 2018 playoffs. Over the course of the run, he again led all postseason players in points per game (34.0) while adding 9.1 rebounds, 9.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. He shot 59.6 percent on shots inside the arc. This run was the stuff of lore.

Again facing the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs, the Cavaliers were pushed to the brink. Needing seven games to knock off rival Paul George, James scored more than 40 points three times, grabbed 10 more rebounds five times and assisted on at least seven field goals in six games.

Toronto was an easier foe to deal with, dismissing the Raptors in four games. The deciding game in the series was a 35-point blowout that led to a coaching change and the reshuffling of the franchise core. The Cavaliers were pushed to seven games again in the Conference Finals, this time by the Boston Celtics. James again scored more than 40 points in three games, pushing him to his eighth straight Finals appearance.

The Finals were never closer than the waning seconds of regulation in Game 1 when J.R. Smith forgot the score and held the ball. The Cavaliers were outscored by 10 in overtime and possibly the greatest game in James’ career remains forgotten. In the loss, the King put up a line of 51 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, a block and a steal. The Cavaliers would go on to be swept but James remained tremendous.
