NBA: The 30 most unforgettable individual playoff runs: 15. Charles Barkley (1993)
Charles Barkley is regularly regarded as one of the best players to never win an NBA championship. There was one season when he finally made it to the title stage and while the team was unable to come away with the victory, the run cemented Barkley as one of the true greats in the history of the game.
The 1993 MVP for the Phoenix Suns, Barkley led his team to the best record in the league and was awaiting a date with his best friend Michael Jordan. In the playoffs, Barkley averaged 26.6 points, 13.6 points, 4.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game. They got past the Lakers in an epic five-game first-round series where he averaged 27.6 points and 14.4 rebounds per game.
Then came bouts with the San Antonio Spurs and Seattle Supersonics which went six and seven games respectively. The duel with the Bulls was much anticipated and did not disappoint. The series went six games and Barkley did his best to outplay the best player in the world. The perfect example of how much he left on the line came in a Game 2 loss; Barkley played 46 minutes and posted a line of 42 points and 13 rebounds. Barkley never played less than 42 minutes in the Finals.
