NBA Draft: Grading every first-round pick after rookie year

Coming out of selection night, every NBA team is usually happy with their NBA Draft selection. After scouting young players that are either from blue blood colleges, smaller programs, or even overseas, everyone feels confident about their pick.

Once draft night officially comes and it’s time to make a selection, there isn’t a single soul on that particular organization that isn’t smiling from ear to ear. Most of that euphoric feeling comes from the mystery of the unknown. A coaching staff grabs that young man by the shoulders and begins molding them into the player they want.

Ultimately, and quite frankly more times than not, things don’t quite work out. The unbelievable three-point ability or the lockdown defender a team thought they were getting actually turned into a player who is flat-out unplayable. In other instances, things turned out better than what they were hoping for and now, they have a bonafide future star on their hands.

At this point, there’s no need to speculate about how a player will play as we’ve already seen them. Now, it’s simply about evaluating how they performed during their first season. We all know every single player on this list has potential but for our grading system, that word isn’t allowed. We aren’t projecting who will be a future superstar or MVP of the league, we merely want to take a close look and grade every first-round pick on how they performed this past season.

Now, first up on our grading chopping block is Mr. Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
