OKC Thunder: 5 potential destinations for Kemba Walker following trade
By Dalton Sell
The Los Angeles Lakers could look to pair Kemba Walker with LeBron James and Anthony Davis
After being decimated by injuries all season long, the Los Angeles Lakers will have a long offseason to regroup after being eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
Among the many concerns they will have to address, they must consider what to do at the point guard position. Dennis Schröder, who served as their primary starter this season, has an unclear future with the franchise. He failed to live up to playoff expectations and will have several suitors looking for his signature in free agency. If the Lakers can go from Schröder to Walker, it will be a surefire upgrade, health barring.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis need a reliable floor general in the backcourt to help handle a select share of the ballhandling responsibilities, and Walker fits the billing. Not only would he give them an extra boost of playmaking, but Walker could play the third-fiddle role on this team to perfection alongside these two with his scoring touch. Who knows, perhaps Walker could be everything that fans envisioned when the Lakers traded for Schröder last offseason.
The difficult part is the pathway to acquiring him, as a trade would provide some financial hoops to jump through. Still, if the Lakers can somehow go from Schröder to Walker, they stand a far better chance of getting back into contention and making a run at another title next season.
