Dallas Mavericks: Considering five possible Kristaps Porzingis trades
By Corey Rausch
Trade partner for Kristaps Porzingis: Sacramento Kings
There is always a chance the Sacramento Kings are ready to enter the discussion if they let Richaun Holmes walk away in free agency. Marvin Bagley III has noted worked out thus far due to an inability to stay on the court and there were trade rumors surrounding him earlier this year thanks to his very vocal father. When he was healthy he looked like he had made progress this season, averaging 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds. There are very few players in more need of a change of scenery than Bagley and playing alongside his fellow 2018 draftee Doncic could be exactly what he needs.
Bringing in Buddy Hield replaces some of what the team lost when trading away Seth Curry before the year. Hield shot “just” 39.1 percent from distance (compared to Curry’s 45.0 percent) but he attempts twice as many per game (10.2 vs. 4.9) so some of that can be forgiven. If the Mavericks bring back Tim Hardaway Jr. those pair on the wing would provide elite spacing.
For the Kings, they would actually be looking to acquire an elite talent to pair with De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. For the first time in decades, they would be making a trade with the potential to make them better instead of doubling down on the tank. Progress comes in mysterious ways.
