The Detroit Pistons made some solid moves last offseason. They managed to sign Jerami Grant, who had a breakout season with the Pistons. He quickly established himself as the team leader on offense while continuing his incredible defensive play.

They were involved in multiple other trades during the last offseason. In a multi-team deal the Pistons sent out Luke Kennard, Justin Patton, Bruce Brown, and four future second-round picks. The Detroit Pistons then went into full rebuild mode.

The Pistons then gave up on their Blake Griffin experiment after he simply could not return at full strength, and his presence clogged up the works for the team’s youngsters. They bought him out and as a result, only $29 million of the remainder of his contract is on the books for next season.

They also traded Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks for Dennis Smith Jr. and a 2021 Charlotte Hornets second-round pick. Around the deadline, Sviatoslav Mykhailuk and a future second-round pick to the OKC Thunder for Hamidou Diallo. They also sent out Delon Wright, getting Cory Joseph and two second-round picks.

The Pistons also signed Wayne Ellington, Jahlil Okafor, and Mason Plumlee in what can only be described as a rebuilding type season. Now, let’s take a look at the roster moves they need to make this offseason to help this along.
