Milwaukee Bucks playoff goals No. 3: Involve Bobby Portis in the play more

The Bucks big man division has been good for the team all season. Brook Lopez is a sweet-shooting 7’0″ center who takes almost half of his shots from outside the arc. The entire NBA knows how good the two-time MVP Antetokounmpo is.

This leaves the bench big man, Bobby Portis. He came to the team as a free agent at the start of the season and simply changes the way the Bucks play when he is on the floor. He has a big, wide body which is very hard to get around, both offensively and defensively.

He shot the ball well, going at 52.3 percent from the floor and 47.1 percent from deep on the season. He averaged 11.4 points, and 7.1 rebounds, being a big part of the Bucks’ success. He has stepped it up even further in the series against the Heat.

He is averaging 10.8 points, and 5.3 rebounds,  which are lower numbers than his regular-season averages. He is shooting the ball at an amazing 58.6 percent from the floor, and 46.2 percent from deep. These numbers are another big reason the Bucks had no issues with dispatching the Heat in a series sweep.

Greater involvement from Portis means that Antetkounmpo can be saved until the later playoff series.
