Goal number 2 for Jonathan Isaac’s return: Improve Offensive Game

Jonathan Isaac is known for one thing and one thing only, his defensive prowess. He’s one of the better wing defenders in the NBA and is well respected defensively. One thing that we haven’t seen from Isaac in the three seasons that he’s played in the NBA is a consistent offensive game.

Isaac has shown steady improvement offensively since he’s entered the league. During his rookie season, he averaged 5.4 points per game on 37.9 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from beyond the arc. Since then, he improved to 9.6 points per game on 42.9/32.3 percent shooting splits his sophomore season and then to 11.9 points per game on 47 percent from the field and 34 percent from beyond the arc in his third season.

If he can develop a consistent jump shot, it’ll make him a much more credible scorer. As a key contributor, Isaac could hopefully average around 15 points per game or more when he returns. In order for this Magic team to succeed, he’ll need to take that next step offensively. Should J.I. add an aspect to his game outside of cuts and dunks, he’ll be a candidate for the Most Improved Player award and could help solidify this young team as a playoff contender.
