Houston Rockets: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
Houston Rocket roster move No. 2: Exercise Avery Bradley’s team option.
Avery Bradley was the other player who came across in the Oladipo trade. While his numbers were not as good as Olynyk’s, Bradley averaged 5.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 0.8 steals in 23.0 minutes per game.
His efficiency left a lot to be desired. He shot the ball at 31.4 percent from the floor, and 27.0 percent from deep. His 83.3 percent from the line is tempered by the fact he only made it to the charity stripe 0.4 times per game. So, why then should the Rockets pick up his option?
The answer is simple, his contract is worth just under $6.0 million next season. While his production is down this season, Bradley knows what it takes to win a championship. His shooting has dipped this season but that can be expected on a team that is struggling like the Rockets.
Bradley could be used by the Rockets either during the offseason or prior to the next trade deadline to garner either draft capital, a player, or both. He is still a quality player who can defend at a high level and this will certainly be of interest to a team looking to contend for next season’s championship.
