Houston Rockets future star Kenyon Martin Jr.

Kenyon Martin Jr. has a long way to go to follow in his father’s footsteps. Think of the premier “basketball schools” in the country. Sierra Canyon, Chaminade, IMG, Kenyon Martin Jr. has been there. Born into the league, it wasn’t a matter of if, but when, Kid K-Mart made his NBA debut.

Martin didn’t play a huge role in the Houston Rockets’ season in 2020. After only starting 8 of the 45 games he appeared in, Martin’s quiet season ended along with the misery of the fans. He was extremely effective from the field and pretty average when shooting the 3-ball, but wow is there potential there.

Forget his lineage and who his dad is, Martin can hoop. With his rookie season under his belt, he’s almost guaranteed to see a larger role in 2021. His chemistry with his teammates is immaculate and his intangibles are there. The only thing he really needs to work on is his tendency to commit bad fouls but that just comes with experience.

Kid K-Mart has a ton of upside because he’s had arguably more experience than any of these young players in the league and entering the league. Should he get his opportunity, it’s hard to imagine he’ll fall flat.
