Chicago Bulls goals for Troy Brown Jr.

If you were to tell any basketball coach that you have a 21-year-old kid who’s 6’6″, weighs 215 lbs. and has the athleticism and instincts to play on the wing, he’d request film and ask you to bring the kid in for a workout. That description fits Troy Brown perfectly. However, since being selected with the 15th pick of the first round back in 2015, his career hasn’t taken off the way he’d hoped.

The Bulls acquired his services at the trade deadline after he’d spent his first two-and-a-half pro seasons as a Washington Wizard. Injuries plagued him the entire season and he was only able to appear in 13 games for Chicago. The team is hoping that the sprained left ankle and the strained left calf that caused him to miss so many games, and cost him some of his explosiveness, are completely healed when the team comes back to training camp.

When he’s fully healthy, Brown has proven he can contribute at the NBA level. During the 2020 season, he appeared in a career-high 69 games while posting averages of 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds. Having a long, lean athletic player who can finish above the rim and average double-digit points off the bench is a luxury any team would love to have. If he can return to form, Troy Brown will prove to be an asset worth keeping.
