NBA: 25 players who should have won MVP in retrospect: 16. Michael Jordan, 1992-93

Michael Jordan used every and anything as motivation. If a little kid heckled him in a game, he was liable to use it as fuel and drop 50 that night. With Charles Barkley taking home the league MVP at the end of the 1992-93 season, Jordan was irate.

For the most part, he had every reason to be livid. After all, he just finished one of the best seasons of his career. On the year, Jordan put together averages of 32.6 points, 5.5 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 2.8 steals. He also led the league in win shares with 17.2 as the Bulls won 57 games. Barkley, on the other hand, was certainly no slouch. The “Round Mound of Rebound” averaged 25.6 points and 12.2 rebounds for a 62 win Phoenix Suns team.

The voters weren’t exactly kind to Jordan, pegging him as third that season. From there, all Jordan could think about was revenge. To do so, he got his hands on Barkley and the Suns in the finals, wiping them out in six games. If Jordan could trade in regular season MVPs for Finals MVPs, he would do it every single time.
