Luka Doncic rivalry with Clippers reminiscent of LeBron and Pistons

Luka Doncic isn’t LeBron James, but the warning signs are there
It’s important to make sure we remember that Luka Doncic is not LeBron James, or anywhere close at this point. LeBron has played in more NBA Finals than Luka has played in playoff games. For that matter, that fateful Game 5 against the Pistons was LeBron’s 27th game in the NBA playoffs.
We can’t put the cart before the horse when we discuss potential greatness, even when we’re seeing it manifest so vividly before our eyes as we do with Doncic.
There’s also the fact that Luka may fare more poorly against other teams than the LA Clippers in these NBA playoffs. He’s making them look like paper tigers, faux quasi-contenders built more for failure than success. Against another team like the Utah Jazz (in trouble themselves, down 1-0 to the Memphis Grizzlies) or the Phoenix Suns in the second round, Doncic may find his stratospheric trajectory stunted a bit.
However, before LeBron could become a champion, he had to learn by losing against the Detroit Pistons, the Boston Celtics and the San Antonio Spurs. Ultimately, he bested them all. We’ll see where Luka Doncic’s path through the pantheon of NBA greatness leads, but at the moment it looks like the LA Clippers are the doormat to his entrance.
