Chicago Bulls Goal No. 3 for Javonte Green: Look for his own shot

While coaches love players who give all-out effort on defense, guys who get buckets demand playing time wherever they go. Players like Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams are notorious for finding ways to score no matter who their teammates are or what city they’re suiting up for.

This past season, Javonte Green averaged 2.6 points per game as a Chicago Bull. While his playing time was certainly limited, he must become more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball if he’s going to stay on the floor. When players pass up open shots, opposing teams feel that they do not have to guard them. This allows defenses to back away from them and clog the paint, preventing penetration by guards and making offensive rebounds harder to come by. Javonte Green must remember that even though he is on a team full of veterans, every player on the floor must be a threat to score.

In his exit interview, Zach LaVine said that this past season’s team was the best he’s played on in his professional career; he’s excited about the direction of the franchise. Fans in the Windy City finally have a reason to be hopeful about the fate of their basketball team. The Chicago Bulls have a realistic shot at making the playoffs next season. If Javonte Green wants to be a part of that he’s going to have to win over his new teammates in coaches. Based on his upside, he’s more than capable of doing so.
