Worst NBA draft pick New York Knicks general manager Scott Perry has made: Kevin Knox

Scott Perry has been blamed in recent seasons for the mess that the New York Knicks used to be and is now not getting much credit as Leon Rose has taken over above him, usurping much of his perceived control. The job that Perry has done has likely fallen somewhere in between. However, the selection of Kevin Knox is likely part of the reason he has been so criticized.

Knox looked good coming out of college and was drafted ninth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. At the time, many lauded this selection as a smart play looking to infuse a young, versatile talent who was rising quickly up draft boards. Instead of taking Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander or Michael Porter Jr., the Knicks did something Leon Rose would love: taking a University of Kentucky prospect.

In the midst of his third season, Knox feels closer to out of the league than realizing his potential. He is averaging career lows in points (3.9), rebounds (1.5), assists (0.5) and minutes (11.0) per game. Knox has elite potential but without much opportunity or growth, it seems likely to be squandered.
