NBA Draft: Worst pick every current general manager has made
By Corey Rausch
Worst NBA draft pick LA Clippers general manager Michael Winger has made: Jerome Robinson
Michael Winger joined the LA Clippers in August 2017 and has been with the team ever since. His first draft was a memorable one, as the Clippers came into the night with the 12th and 13th picks and ended up swapping the 12th pick (and two future second-round picks) for the 11th to move up and take Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That pick was a home run, but the second first-round selection was not nearly as solid.
Jerome Robinson had promise coming out of college but so far has been something of a disaster. Over three seasons with the Clippers and Washington Wizards he played in just 113 games and is currently out of the league. He shot just 36.3 percent from the field, low-lighted this season by shooting 29.5 percent. He played 17 games this season and was finally waived on April 8, 2021. Perhaps next season he will get an opportunity with another team but for now, that is a stunning spiral for a former lottery pick.
Further compounding the issue with this pick for Michael Winger is who went right after Robinson. Michael Porter Jr. is one of the most explosive young talents in the league and he went 14th overall in the draft. He was the top prospect in high school but back injuries in college caused him to drop in the draft. If there was any team that should have taken a swing on him it was the one with two lottery picks.
