Worst NBA draft pick Detroit Pistons general manager Troy Weaver has made: Saben Lee

Like Calvin Booth in Denver, Troy Weaver has only been a part of one draft. However, instead of only two players to pick from, Weaver made three first-round picks and a second-round draft pick. All four of the rookies have shown flashes of how good they could be so this is more about the process of elimination.

Isaiah Stewart and Saddiq Bey have been quite good for the Detroit Pistons so far. Bey broke the rookie record for most games with at least five 3-point makes, previously held by Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson. Isaiah Stewart is leading rookies in rebounding. The debate comes down between Killian Hayes and Saben Lee.

It is hard to say either is a bad pick, but Saben Lee has a lower ceiling than the former lottery pick. This should not come as a surprise, considering Lee went 31 picks later. Hayes missed plenty of time with a hip injury and his scoring is still a project, but he profiles as a dominant passer and defender for his position. Lee has been solid in his two-way role and should get converted to a regular contract at some point. The gap is just enough that he is a worse selection for the future of the Detroit Pistons.
