Los Angeles Lakers goal No. 1 for the NBA playoffs: Get the team healthy

This is one goal where the Lakers have been benefitted from the fixture. The play-in tournament starts with only one day break for some teams. The Lakers have an extra day off meaning that players who have relatively minor injuries have that extra day off.

Davis has only just come back from injury and has looked like he is playing hurt. James has sat out for the last part of the season with an ankle injury. This injury benefits from more rest and he should be right to go for the rest of the playoffs.

However, the Lakers injury report is still pretty long. Alex Caruso has been having issues with a foot problem, Gasol has a finger injury, Kyle Kuzma is battling a back injury, and Alfonso McKinnie has also been having issues with a foot injury.

It does not matter how good the stars are of a team, when it comes to playoff basketball, it is usually a case of the deepest teams winning. If this depth cannot make the court then winning the play-in tournament then three Western Conference matchups followed by the NBA Finals feels like a mountain that is just a little too high.
