After winning the NBA championship last season the Los Angeles Lakers made some pretty big moves in the offseason. They did not re-sign Rajon Rondo, who was arguably the push behind the championship run, instead choosing to trade Danny Green to the OKC Thunder for Dennis Schroder.

They lost both of their center rotation pieces. Dwight Howard went to the Philadelphia 76ers and JaVale McGee went to the Cleveland Cavaliers via trade. Instead, they signed Marc Gasol and Montrezl Harrell. They also signed Wesley Matthews in what appeared to be a major roster upgrade for the best team in the league.

Well, midway through the season they went a different direction at center, signing Andre Drummond after he was waived by the Cavaliers. The problem is though, the Lakers were better on paper than last season but this season they are struggling massively.

The Los Angeles Lakers have missed out on qualifying directly for the NBA playoffs. Here are three goals to help them move through the postseason.

The problem for the Lakers was not the number of injuries they have suffered, they are no worse off than most NBA teams in that regard. The problem has been who the injuries have happened to. Due to being very top-heavy in their contracts, the Lakers are not as deep as some teams.

This means that when both superstars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, suffer long-term injuries, then the team is going to be in trouble. Add to this the fact that Schroder has missed some time as well and the Lakers’ offense is stagnant.

With this in mind, let’s look at three goals for the Los Angeles Lakers heading into the NBA playoffs.
