26. OKC Thunder

Last Week: Lost to Sacramento Kings 126-98, Lost to Sacramento Kings 122-106, Lost to Utah Jazz 109-93, Beat LA Clippers 117-112

Over/Under Projection; Guess/Result: 21; Over; Right

There were times along the way that the OKC Thunder looked like they may have won too many games to actually compete for a top pick in this season’s draft. In order to change that a tank job unlike many that have ever been seen would be needed. Having just two wins since the All-Star break is a good way to do just that.

The Thunder always knew this was going to be a rebuilding season and have taken that in stride in an effort to develop as much young talent as possible. Lu Dort made a major leap on the offensive side of the court while remaining a defensive wizard. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was a borderline All-Star before being shut down for the season. Even throughout the season Charlie Brown Jr., Moses Brown and Gabriel Deck have earned contracts and increased minutes.

Everything for the Thunder hinges on the draft lottery. That is the next step in their rebuilding process. The Thunder will receive the Rockets pick if it lands at five and they have their own top pick. They also have the Miami Heat’s draft pick this season. Going into next season with just a $55 million payroll, potentially two top five picks and Gilgeous-Alexander the future is bright for the Thunder.
