NBA award season is almost upon us, the six major regular-season awards will be handed out, and complained about on Twitter. The Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, Sixth Man of the Year and Coach of the Year, are always a point of discussion and contention in NBA Media.

To add fuel to that fire, Hoops Habit internally polled many of the writers on the site to see what our votes would be for each of the major awards.

The NBA award season is upon us, so with the regular season coming to a close it’s time to see who the Hoops Habit writers think will win each major award.

Some stipulations that should be mentioned; This was a 20-person sample and in each major award, there was a different number of options to select. The MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year vote included seven choices, Rookie of the Year had six choices, Most Improved Player included five choices and Sixth Man of the Year had four, which was selected to reflect the top candidates as expressed by betting odds via reliable sportsbooks.

The writers who participated all have their own beats and main teams they cover, so this wide cross-section should provide a reliable sample size of what the awards could and or should be.
