Memphis Grizzlies: 3 critical goals going into the NBA playoffs
Memphis Grizzlies NBA playoffs goal No. 3: Work on their perimeter game.
With the NBA being a pace and space league, being able to defend the 3-point line is one of the most fundamental skills you need to learn as a team. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies defensive chemistry comes with time and they are a really young team.
They have 11 players on their roster who have less than three years of experience and this includes their stars. This has caused the Grizzlies to give up 34.8 shots from deep which is 18th in the league. Opponents are making 12.8 per game which is 16th in the league. They are able to make these shots at 36.9 percent, which is 18th in the league.
On the other end of the court, the Grizzlies are only taking 31.4 attempts per game, which is 24th in the league. They are making 11.2 per game which is also good for only 24th in the league. This means they are making 35.9 percent of their attempts which is 19th in the league.
Offensively, the Grizzlies will be better from deep when Jackson starts making them the way we know he can. This will open up the lane for Morant to drive and Valanciunas to go to work in the paint. This is all a work in progress and the Grizzlies will get to test themselves in a playoff-type intensity to help their development.
