Golden State Warriors goal No. 1: Spread the scoring load

The Warriors have performed above expectations this season. They are firmly entrenched in the play-in tournament which is better than anyone could have predicted. They have done so on the back of the scoring prowess of Steph Curry.

Curry is the best shooter the game has ever seen. This season alone he has three games where he has scored over 50 points, including one game over 60 points. The Warriors are 2-1 in these games.

Curry also has seven games where he has scored 40 points or more. The Warriors are 6-1 in these games. So in games where Curry scores 40 points or more, the Warriors have a record of 8-2. So why then am I suggesting that the Warriors need to spread the scoring load? The answer is simple.

In a playoff series, the Warriors will need Curry to produce four times at this level to beat their opponent. However, in the series, who by definition are the best teams in the league, adjustments are going to be made to try and stop Curry.

If the Warriors can involve their other offensive players more, then Curry will be able to have regular games where the Warriors can win without him carrying the load. Wiggins has shown that he can score in bunches, but they need another option or two if they are going to advance in the playoffs. Working on it over the next few games will help their seeding and into the playoffs.
