Washington Wizards goal No. 2: Foul less

The Wizards commit 21.7 fouls per game which is the highest number in the NBA this season. The old adage goes that if you are not fouling, you are not playing defense but that is not the case for this Wizards team.

They are currently the worst defense in the league, with their opponents averaging 118.5 points per game against the Washington-based franchise. Some of this can be attributed to the poor start to the season but recent results have to be factored in. They allowed the Indiana Pacers to score 141 points in regulation. Fortunately for the Wizards, they scored 154 in a win.

With the excessive fouling committed by the Wizards, they are putting their opponents to the line 25.4 times per game, this is the second-worst number in the league this year. Opponents are getting 19.7 points from the line a game which is 28th in the league.

The Wizards are the number one team in the league for drawing fouls at 22.2 per game. They take the most attempts and make the highest number of free throws of any team. If they were able to turn the tap off at the other end of the court then they would certainly gain an advantage over their opposition.
