The Indiana Pacers are a franchise in free-fall at the moment. They are still performing well enough on the court to stay in the play-in race but they are in serious danger of falling to the 10th seed and having to travel to try and qualify for the playoffs.

Off the court, the franchise is not going so well. They moved on from the previous coach Nate McMillan during the last offseason and installed Nate Bjorkgren in his place. This feels a little like a mistake given McMillan won the coach of the month award for March in his first month in charge of the Georgia-based franchise.

Bjorkgren appears to be fighting to keep his job given that the Pacers would not have qualified for the playoffs had they been in the usual format. The fact that they have qualified for the postseason nine times in the last ten seasons, this season could quite easily be seen as a failure.

The Indiana Pacers even got in on the James Harden trade

The Pacers helped facilitate the trade which sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. For their part, the Pacers sent the expiring contract of Victor Oladipo to the Houston Rockets and in return received Caris LeVert. They also received the Rockets 2023 second-round draft pick.

This trade may well have saved LeVert’s life as a cancerous lump was found on his kidney during the routine medical required of players who are being traded. He is back and playing well with the Pacers, but that kind of sums up the season.

With all of this in mind, let’s look at 3 goals for the Indiana Pacers for the final stretch of the season.
