ESPN and Marvel recently announced a collaboration featuring an NBA game between the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors. That game will be played on Monday, May 3rd, and will involve elements of in-game action.

The feature players for the Golden State Warriors will be Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins, and for the Pelicans, Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram.

On Monday night, ESPN’s collaboration with Marvel and the NBA begs the question: Which characters would LeBron James, James Harden and other stars be?

To learn more about the broadcast and event itself, take a look at Marvel.com’s writeup on the topic here. For our purposes here, though, this event got us thinking about who some of the best players in the NBA would be if they were transformed into Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters.

What form would LeBron James take? How about (now apparently a canonical MCU character) Zion Williamson? Would players like Trae Young or Blake Griffin make the cut? Hint: Anybody mentioned on the first page will definitely make the cut.

Re-imagining NBA players as Marvel characters isn’t a new exercise, but both the league and the MCU are nearly constantly evolving. It’s worth revisiting the topic now and then, and there’s no better time to do so than when the NBA and Marvel themselves are collaborating in the way they will be Monday night.

Whether you like the MCU or not, it’s going to be front and center on Monday. So let’s take a dive into this deep well of both MCU and NBA figures and see how they compare.
