2. Team rebound
The Kings are the worst rebounding team in the entire league. They are only able to corral 41.1 rebounds per game, made up of 31.7 defensive rebounds per game, which is last in the league, and 9.4 offensive rebounds per game, which is 20th in the league.
Part of the reason for this is they have not been able to keep their big men on the floor for large stretches of the season. Their leading rebounder, Richaun Holmes, has only played 54 games on the season. The Kings have a 2-7 record when he is out.
Marvin Bagley III has only managed to play 38 games this season and Hassan Whiteside has only played in 36 games. This is where the rest of the team needs to step up. The adage goes that the defensive possession is not over until the rebound has been secured.
The Kings are also 28th in the league in offensive rebounds against which leads to second-chance points. Without the whole group crashing the boards, the Kings are leaking points which they cannot afford to do. They are last in the league in points against with 119.1 per game.
Until they can stem the flow, they are not going to beat many teams regularly. Defensive rebounding is a key fundamental that the Kings need to get better at.
