Sacramento Kings: 3 season goals down the stretch
The Sacramento Kings have had one of their best seasons in a long time. Yes, they are missing the playoffs again but a tremendous positive for the franchise is they selected Tyrese Haliburton with the 12th pick in the 2020 Draft.
He has been a revelation for the franchise and has been in the conversation for Rookie of the Year all season. The 6’5″ point guard has averaged 13.0 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 30.2 minutes per game.
Their other success story of the season has also been at the point guard position. De’Aaron Fox has been on the tear this season, averaging 25.2 points, 7.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 35.1 minutes per game.
The Sacramento Kings have had another losing season but they have had some glimmers of light. Here are three goals down the stretch.
The Kings started their season by beating the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns in back-to-back games. In the freak nature of the fixture, they played the same two teams again, beating the Nuggets a second time but losing to the Suns.
They then lost nine of their next 11 games which put their season on the back foot. Unfortunately for the Kings, this was not the last time that they had a large losing streak. They had a nine-game losing streak in February and another nine-game losing streak at the end of March running through early April.
The Kings have the makings of a solid core for their franchise with Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield, Fox, and Haliburton all locked up on long-term deals. This should allow them to build to a point where they may actually manage to break their playoff drought.
With all that in mind, let’s take a look at three goals for the Sacramento Kings down the stretch.
