26. Orlando Magic

Last Week: Lost to Indiana Pacers 131-112, Lost to Los Angeles Lakers 114-103, Beat Cleveland Cavaliers 109-104, Lost to Memphis Grizzlies 92-75, Beat Memphis Grizzlies 112-111

This Week: 5/3 at Detroit Pistons, 5/5 vs. Boston Celtics, 5/7 at Charlotte Hornets

Good news for the Orlando Magic: April is over. The Magic won just three games this month, tied for the second-worst mark in the league. They have plummeted down the standings while giving the kids a chance to get their feet wet and see who should be a part of their next young core.

Tied with Terrence Ross for the leading scorer for the month, Cole Anthony (14.1 points per game) has rebounded nicely from his early-season injury and added in 5.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds while playing just 27.8 minutes per game. He is still not benefitting from playing with above-average talent, the same issue he faced in college, but the only aspect of his game suffering from that is the efficiency (47.8 effective field goal percentage).

We have talked a decent bit about Wendell Carter Jr. here over recent weeks and April was a solid month for him. The newest member of the team averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. The issue with focusing on these two players is the likelihood that their role gets compromised when Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac return to the court. That just happens to be a problem for the future.
