1. Take better care of the ball

The Cavaliers have to work on taking care of the ball more, given that they turn the ball over 15.5 times per game. This is the second-highest number of turnover per game in the league and another reason the Cavaliers have the worst-ranked offense.

They waived Andre Drummond who was their worst offender with 3.2 per game. However, he only played 25 games so the problem is much deeper than that. For all of the good their young backcourt combination is doing, they are also responsible for 5.8 turnovers per game.

While this number is not extreme, given the fact that the Cavaliers are also in the bottom third of the NBA in assists, it is too many. However, the problem is not just with Garland and Sexton. 11 other players are averaging over a single turnover a game.

Some of these players are no longer with the franchise or have just been signed but the numbers stay the same, the Cavaliers are turning it over too much. This may be due to the system being implemented and the players struggling to grasp it. If they can reduce the turnovers down the stretch while getting the assist numbers up, this will give them a head start for next season.
