Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 season goals down the stretch
The Cleveland Cavaliers have not had a very good time of it this season. They have been without the experience of Kevin Love for most of the season and have been relying on their younger brigade to get the job done for them. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers have been out of playoff contention for much of the season.
Just prior to the season starting, the Cavaliers traded for JaVale McGee. McGee played half a season in the wine and gold before he was traded to the Denver Nuggets for Isaiah Hartenstein and two future second-round draft picks.
The Cavaliers were one of the teams involved in the trade which sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. In effect, the Cavaliers sent Dante Exum and a 2020 first-round pick to the Nets and received Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince in return.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are not going to make the playoffs this season but they can still make some noise down the stretch with these 3 goals.
The Cavaliers’ two best players are in their backcourt. Collin Sexton and Darius Garland have shown they have a very high ceiling. Between the two of them, they are averaging 42.0 points, 10.3 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game. This is really good production from a backcourt that has only completed three seasons between them.
These two players are going to get better. Add to that Love saying that he wants to play for the Cavaliers for a long time, Allen being the defensive cornerstone, and some of the young talent coming through, this team has a bright future.
With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at three season goals for the Cleveland Cavaliers down the stretch.
