There was a level of optimism at the start of the season for Detroit Pistons fans. They added some really good talent to their lineup, signing Jerami Grant along with multiple other free agents to improve the chances of the team this season.

Unfortunately, it was not to be for the Pistons this season. They went 2-8 in their first ten games of the season and have never regained their footing. They had Blake Griffin back on the floor, but he was a shadow of his former self. Offensively, he was decent but might as well have been a lamppost on defense.

One positive for the Pistons has been the play of Grant. He has stepped up to pace the team both offensively and defensively. He is leading the team in scoring going at 22.4 points per game. He is also the best wing defender on the team given his size, speed and athleticism.

The Detroit Pistons have not had a good season and have gone into rebuild mode Here are three goals for the franchise down the stretch.

This offseason is going to be critical for the Pistons. They have a lot of good young talent but what they really need is a veteran to run the squad. They did have Derrick Rose but they traded him to the New York Knicks.

They now have Cory Joseph but will the Pistons think he is with the $12.6 million he is due next year if they guarantee his contract? They will be hoping to use that money to sign another Grant, a player whose potential will blossom in their system.

However, there is still a month left in this season, so let’s take a look at the Detroit Pistons’ three goals down the stretch.
